Every summer, Hope's Youth Learning and Leadership team provides an opportunity for youth to have positive summer camp experiences through our Camp Readiness Program. In this free program, youth get to go to a week-long YMCA camp for free. Before they go, they get three weeks of workshops with Hope staff to help them build the skills they need to try new things and build new relationships at camp. We also provide them with all the gear they'll need, and we host a community breakfast with their families to send them off.
Our goal this year is to raise $34,000 to send 17 kids to camp!
This is what it takes to fully fund the program - about $2,000 per camper. About half of the costs are camp registration fees, and the rest cover all the time, effort, and materials Hope staff provide to ensure young people will be successful in their camp experiences.
We receive some funding support from the YMCA, but it has been decreasing over time and this year is lower than ever. Especially with this dwindling support, we need our giving community to step up for Hope youth!
