TRCSTR: Transformational Creative Strategies Training 2022 Cohort Application

Transformational Creative Strategies Training (TRCSTR) is a 5-month cohort training program for community artists. The cohort of 8 participants will be supported by individual and collective mentorship of an 8-person advisory group and will also work collectively to create public projects during the program. TRCSTR is led by artists and organizers, and centers on building personal and collective capacity for bringing transformational change through creative work. TRCSTR offers spaces to grow and practice skills, build connections, share food, questions, and ideas. We explore cultural and creative strategies that prioritize relationship, healing, curiosity, identity, and process. We welcome artists age 18+ of all mediums/ forms to apply.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • Cost and Stipend: TRCSTR is FREE. Cohort members will be paid a participation stipend of $1,000.
  • Commitment: (Appx 15 hours/ month).
    • Cohort Sessions will take place bi-weekly, Wednesdays 3:00pm-5:30pm. Dates: Orientation June 9th. Cohort sessions 6/15, 6/ 29, 7/13, 7/27, 8/10, 8/24, 9/7, 9/21, 10/5. Snacks provided.
    • Monthly TRCSTR Circles will take place one Thursday evening per Month, 5:30pm-8:00pm. These gatherings will bring together the Cohort and Advisory group for conversations and workshops. Dates: 6/23, 7/21, 8/18, 9/15, 10/13 (final Circle and Celebration). Meal + childcare provided.
  • Program Dates: June 9, 2022 -October 13, 2022.
  • Location: All gatherings and sessions will take place in Minneapolis, outdoors or indoors (possibly limited virtual sessions), with care to COVID safety, and access needs.
  • Cohort: The Cohort is the group of 8 participants in the training.
  • Advisory: The Advisory is a group of 8 experienced Mentors/ Advisors who guide and support the program and participants.
  • Mentorship: Cohort members will be paired with an advisory member with whom they connect throughout the program 1:1.
  • Project: Cohort will produce public, collaborative projects during the program, and will each receive a $500 stipend to support project needs (in addition to participation stipend).
  • LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC centered space.

*TRCSTR was developed in partnership between Hope Community and Minneapolis Institute of Art. Beginning in 2022, it is a program of Hope Community.

Note: Expect to hear back from us about possible next steps by May 4th, 2022. We will be scheduling interviews May 10- May 20th

Covid safety protocol
Wear mask during in-person sessions, practice social distancing, use hand sanitizer, wash surfaces frequently, communicate with project leads if you are not feeling well or are experiencing the following symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea. If you have been exposed first-hand to a confirmed Covid-19 case, communicate with ARC leads before attending in-person engagements. You should either get a covid test (receiving negative results), or quarantining for two weeks before returning to an in-person session.
